Join Reverse the Red and some of our Accelerator Award winners from 2025! These Accelerator Award winners are embodying the theme of the International Day for Biological Diversity.
This is a celebratory session, designed to showcase the actions happening throughout the network to halt and reverse biodiversity loss. Protecting biodiversity includes action close to home with positive ripple effects that can reach far beyond, and these three winners of the 2025 Reverse the Red Accelerator Award are doing just that.
We’ll hear from:
Caitlin Brant, Species Impact Coordinator for Reverse the Red, who will share more about the Reverse the Red Species Pledge and the Accelerator Award, and how all of the organisations making species pledges are helping to achieve the goals and targets of the Global Biodiversity Framework.
Oliver Beasley, representing Bristol Zoological Society, whose Accelerator Award project is for the critically endangered Turquoise Dwarf Gecko (Lygodactylus williamsi)
Aileen Anderson, representing Grootvadersbosch Conservancy Trust, whose Accelerator Award project is for the critically endangered Tradouw Redfin (Pseudobarbus burchelli)
Fernando Solis Carlos, representing Grupo de Ecología y Conservación de Islas, A.C. whose Accelerator Award project is for the critically endangered Townsend´s Shearwater (Puffinus auricularis)
The 2025 Accelerator Award was presented by Reverse the Red with the support of Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund and Synchronicity Earth to support the acceleration of action foundational to recovering species and creating positive impact on species and biodiversity. The nine winners of the 2025 Accelerator Award have the calendar year of 2026 to accelerate the recovery of a species, perfectly embodying the theme of the International Day for Biological Diversity of “acting locally for global impact.”
