Indianapolis Zoo Saving Species Challenge Pre-Applications Due June 4, 2023

The long awaited Indianapolis Zoo Saving Species Challenge has been announced to great excitement! This is an extraordinary opportunity to secure $1 million to contribute to the recovery of a species or a group of closely related species. Pre-applications are due June 4.

To support anyone interested in preparing a successful project to improve the status of a threatened species, Reverse the Red has released Reverse the Red Conservation Status Improvement Guidelines for Practitioners, a practical booklet providing insight and advice through a handful of key steps.  Reverse the Red’s Conservation Status Improvement Guidelines provide a blueprint for in-country conservation practitioners to reduce species’ risk of extinction while contributing to achieve forward progress under the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.

We have no time to waste as the first deadline is to submit a pre-application by 4 June 2023. The pre-application requires three important pieces of information:

  1. Details on your organization and the project leader.

  2. Details on the threatened species that you propose to save.

  3. High level details on the proposed plan. If you are successful in the first round you will have time and support to develop a complete plan.

If you need help or assistance in the submission, please do not hesitate to contact conservationofficer@reversethered.org. Nieves García, Reverse the Red Conservation Officer, is also available to discuss the Conservation Status Improvement Guidelines and how you may be able to use them to further conservation efforts outside of the Saving Species Challenge.
